The Oakland Police Commission fired her without cause on Thursday, along with the blessing of Mayor Libby Schaaf. 

Anne Kirkpatrick said she believes she lost her job because she refused to reimburse commissioner Ginale Harris for towing fees.

Noel Gallo said that the reactions he’s been getting of the phone and through email, are mostly people  saying, “it’s no longer City Hall but Silly Hall.” 

The Oakland Police Commission in a closed-door meeting Thursday evening unanimously voted, joining Mayor Libby Schaaf, to fire police Chief Anne Kirkpatrick without cause. 

Surveillance cameras captured what appears to be the same suspect involved in a third robbery case. 

Police were called shortly before 9:30 p.m. to the collision scene at intersection of Hegenberger and Hamilton Street.

Willie Benton was last seen Monday at his home in the 9400 block of Golf Links Road and is considered at risk because he suffers from Alzheimer's disease, according to police.

Officers responded to the robbery report at 12:30 a.m. in the neighborhood off Keller Avenue in the hills, where a woman was robbed of her purse and cellphone at gunpoint.

Investigators recovered the vehicle in Oakland following a tip from a community member. It is described as a white Nissan Maxima, matching witness descriptions from the time of the crash.

The unidentified man -- said to be in his 20's -- is recovering from a wound in the hip.

Oakland police officers are searching for an armed suspect who allegedly pointed a gun and fled into nearby yards east of Lake Merritt on Wednesday afternoon, according to police.

Last Tuesday was Shuo’s birthday. He spent the day working on his laptop at the Starbucks when a man grabbed his laptop. Shuo ran after the thief but was dragged by the getaway car and suffered severe head trauma. He died a few feet from the Starbucks. 

The man, believed to be in his 20s or 30s, died of head injuries after being taken by ambulance to a hospital, authorities said.

The first black woman named to lead Philadelphia’s troubled police department pledged to be a “conduit” between the community and police and to address the racist and sexist tensions dividing the force.

The suspect vehicle was seen going westbound on state Highway 24 near the Pleasant Hill Road exit in Lafayette and deputies followed, but did not chase, the vehicle to West Oakland, where it was pulled over at Willow and Goss streets, the Sheriff's Office said in a news release.

The shooting was reported at 4:17 a.m. in the 2400 block of San Pablo Ave., police said. The victim only suffered a graze wound and declined medical treatment. The suspect was taken into custody and a firearm was recovered, police said.

Mitchell, with the help of others in the police department and Oakland community, gathered enough donations to buy Christmas dinner and gifts for seven families who could use some help.

The shooting happened about 3:30 a.m. near the corner of Courtland and San Carlos avenues, according to an officer on the patrol desk.
