A panel of outside experts told the U.S. Food and Drug Administration this week that it should make six types of peptides more available to the public — a recommendation that contradicts advice from the agency's own scientists.

GLP-1 drugs may slow biological aging, study finds

At least one in 10 Americans is now on a GLP-1 weight loss drug, medications already credited with helping people lose weight and reduce their risk of diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Now, researchers at UC San Diego say the drugs may also help slow the aging process. The study examined the drug's effects in people living with HIV, a population increasingly at risk for chronic disease and inflammation as they age.
