Californians asked to track monarch sightings

The California State Parks Foundation is asking Californians to track sightings of western monarch butterflies to help save the dwindling insect population.

Morning drizzle, showers possible

Measurable drizzle is possible during the morning hours. Later in the day, shower chances could be increasing in the North Bay, especially in Sonoma and Mendocino counties.

Unsettled pattern moving in

An unusually deep area of low pressure will approach Northern California during the Monday – Wednesday timeframe. There is high confidence that this system will produce rain to the north of the Bay Area. Rainfall should taper dramatically as the system moves south. Local projections, through Thursday, range from 0” (some areas will remain dry) to .20” in the coastal hills. Monday: Measurable drizzle is possible during the morning hours. Later in the day, shower chances could be increasing in the North Bay…especially in Sonoma and Mendocino Counties. Tuesday: Shower activity could be picking up. Thunderstorm chances could be increasing too.

Little change today, bigger changes tomorrow

Partly cloudy, pleasant weather is in store for most today. Afternoon highs will range from upper 60s at the coast to low 80s inland. A change in the pattern will bring an early taste of fall with unsettled weather in the forecast for the business week.
