Magnitude 3.9 earthquake jolts the East Bay

According to the United States Geological Survey, the temblor struck near San Lorenzo around 6:29 p.m. The earthquake was first reported as a magnitude 4.2 but downgraded to a 3.9.

3.6-magnitude quake shakes San Jose

A 3.6-magnitude earthquake shook San Jose early Thursday morning. The USGS clocked the quake just before 5:30 a.m., just east of the Alum Rock neighborhood.
