Tsunami waves hit Hawaii, hundreds sleep at Maui aiport

One of the strongest earthquakes ever recorded struck off Russia’s sparsely populated Far East early Wednesday, sending tsunami waves into Japan, the U.S. West Coast and Hawaii, where flights on Tuesday night were canceled, causing at least 200 people to sleep at the Maui airport.

After a massive earthquake struck Russia, tsunami alerts were issued for many areas, including Japan, Hawaii and California, the latter of which is nearly 5,000 miles away.

3.4M quake rattles Pinole

 An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 3.4 rattled Pinole and nearby areas Sunday night, according to the U.S. Geological Survey Berkeley Seismological Laboratory.

3.7 earthquake rattles Lake County

A 3.7 magnitude earthquake rattled parts of the North Bay Friday, with its epicenter at The Geysers in Lake County, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
