Eastbound I-80 closure during August weekends Hercules to Crockett

Caltrans is shutting down all eastbound lanes as part of a roadway improvement project. Eastbound lanes in Contra Costa County will be closed from Highway 4 in Hercules to Cummings Skyway in Crockett. Detours are at Highway 4 eastbound, where drivers can proceed to 680 north, then return to interstate 80 east at Fairfield.

Sideshows break out in Oakland early Sunday morning

Oakland police said there was disruptive sideshow activity Sunday morning in two locations near the Oakland International Airport. There were 100 vehicles involved in the sideshow at 66th Avenue and Coliseum Way around 3:30 a.m., police said. Spectators threw fireworks at officers before the crowd was dispersed, the Oakland Police Department claimed. Just 30 minutes later, there was another sideshow with a smaller crowd and 50 vehicles nearby at Edes Avenue and Hegenberger Road. An AC Transit was unable to continue on its route due to the crowd, police said.
