PG&E's and its various types of meteorologists

Even as the climate changes as the wet season becomes wetter and the dry season becomes drier, PG&E has to evaluate its territories for the harsher impacts of extreme weather events. They use a different type of meteorologist each time they predict what Mother Nature has in store during severe weather.

Los Altos without power for days following storm

PG&E reported 10,000 customers still without power in the Peninsula Thursday evening, among the 37,000 customers without electricity in the entire Bay Area following this week's storms.

Peninsula power outages could last until Friday

Residents on the Peninsula from Burlingame and Hillsborough up to San Bruno faced another night without lights, heat and internet access on Wednesday after the power went out the day before in the lastest powerful wind storm.

Wind is PG&E's mortal enemy

Before winds kicked up in the wee hours on Tuesday, there were a small clusters of homes in the Bay Area without power. But by the later afternoon, that number grew to hundreds of thousands of customers due to severe winds.

Strong winds associated with the latest Bay Area atmospheric river caused trees to once again topple, power outages, and was likely the cause of glass that fell from a San Francisco high-rise's damaged windows.
