Investigators with Cal Fire are set up on a remote vineyard on a secluded hillside in Napa Valley as they probe for the origin and cause of the destructive Glass Fire. Several neighbors told KTVU they witnessed flames erupt from the same area when the fire first ignited.

The Restaurant at Meadowood, also known as TRAM, was reduced to rubble in the wildfire that sparked in Napa County on Sunday.

The warning adds urgency to the ongoing firefight.

There was no containment reported for the Zogg Fire.

A tree hit a Napa County sheriff's deputy patrol car during the overnight hours and a crew was out clearing up the tree, and working to move the car, authorities said.

A little green doll has served as a morale booster and has brought smiles and a feeling of comfort and connection to fire crews battling wildfires in Oregon and Colorado, and he just might be making plans for a visit to California soon. 

The Glass Fire is only 2% contained Tuesday evening, but there were signs of progress helped by milder weather, Sonoma County officials said at an online briefing.

A key segment of the Bay Area economy is being threatened again for the second time over the last several months.

The Glass Fire began Sunday as three fires that merged and drove vineyards and mountain areas into eastern Santa Rosa. 

Calistoga, famous for its hot springs, sits on a very thin area of the earth's crust with molten rock just below it. But, the big worry is the threat from the mountains above in the form of wildfire.

The Bay Area Air Quality Management District, BAAQMD, has extended its ongoing Spare the Air alerts through Friday as the wildfires in Napa and Sonoma counties continued to rage.

Along with the 80 homes destroyed -- 52 in Napa County and 28 in Sonoma County -- 32 other structures have been destroyed in the fire and 10,712 others remain threatened, Cal Fire officials said.

Breezes replaced the powerful gusts that sent the Glass Fire raging through Napa and Sonoma counties Sunday and Monday, scorching more than 66 square miles.

The Zogg Fire is one of nearly 30 wildfires burning in California. 

Several school districts in Sonoma County canceled classes Tuesday, even virtual ones, because of the wildfires and evacuations in the area.

Parts of the luxury resort Meadowood went up in flames. Chateau Boswell was destroyed in the fire and much of Calistoga Ranch Resort also burned.

Fires in Napa and Sonoma Counties have forced thousands of people to evacuate to avoid the flames.

A fire started near St. Helena and began spreading rapidly, leading authorities to order evacuations in parts of Napa County.
