San Francisco is preparing to host its Pride celebration this weekend. City leaders are getting ready for a weekend of festivities, and they're reminding everyone to be safe, have fun and be on the lookout for anything suspicious.

CHP to pay $10M for paralyzing Salinas man high on meth, armed with gun

The California Highway Patrol agreed to pay $10 million to a mother after a jury found two of its officers violated her son's constitutional rights by shooting him nearly 45 times and paralyzing him, even though he was high on methamphetamine, armed at times with a gun and later convicted of assaulting police, stealing a car, hit-and-run and DUI. 

PG&E shuts off power in these Bay Area cities

As the utility forewarned, Pacific Gas & Electric turned off power to a portion of customers, mostly in the East Bay, on Thursday in a preventive measure to reduce the risk of wildfires as high winds and dry conditions are expected through Saturday.

Evacuation orders lifted for East San Jose vegetation fire

Firefighters with the San Jose Fire Department and Cal Fire got the upper hand in battling a nearly 100-acre vegetation fire that started late Tuesday afternoon. The fire was 75% contained and earlier evacutation orders had been lifted by late evening.
