Security video taken recently outside a home near Moraga Country Club shows a coyote meandering through a yard.

At approximately 7:45 p.m., the coyote approached a person walking in the area of Rimer Drive. The coyote then ran toward a nearby bicyclist. 

Moraga Commons Park will close early Friday in the wake of a coyote attack that happened Thursday afternoon, according to police. 

Businesses still operating during the COVID-19 pandemic are having to adjust in order to survive. 

An East Bay school is considering online classes in case schools need to close as the coronavirus/COVID-19 spreads across the state.

"We are troubled by this news because it involved Saint Mary's students who are known to one another," Saint Mary's College of California Vice Provost Jane Camarillo wrote.

Officers were initially contacted about a possible shooting at approximately 7:30 p.m. Arriving officers discovered two victms suffering from gunshot(s) inside a vehicle.

The Moraga Police Department dispelled a rumor of an alleged threat directed at Saint Mary's College on Thursday. 

The Merrill Fire in Moraga threatened dozens of homes and forced evacuations two weeks ago. Police say a broken, shattered vape pen was found where the fire broke out. Officials say that may have played a role in how the blaze began.

The fire was first reported at 12:54 a.m.Thursday near 46 Merrill Circle North and off Sanders Ranch Road.
