Cal Fire preemptively clears brush in Tilden Park

It was hot and dry in the East Bay's Tilden Park on Tuesday. KTVU's Rob Roth reports Cal Fire was on hand for a fuel break, which basically means they were clearing brush as a preemptive measure during the height of fire season.

Berkeley teachers rally; demand raise, new contract

Berkeley bans gender-specific words from city code

Berkeley City Council has voted to eliminate gender-specific words from its municipal code. Some of the changes include the word, "manhole" that will now be "maintenance hole." KTVU's Amber Lee reports on local residents reaction.

Advisory issued for Berkeley Bowl after city says resident contracted measles

The city of Berkeley announced Friday that a resident has contracted measles. While the person is no longer contagious, city officials have advised anyone who visited Berkeley Bowl at 2020 Oregon St. May 7 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. who is not immune to look for the first stage of symptoms: runny nose, red eyes, cough, and fever.

Berkeley mayor explains new RV parking permit system

Berkeley Mayor Jesse Arreguin explains a new RV parking permit system, adopted after a contentious meeting, where the city voted to ban overnight RV parking. The renewable 3-month permit system will include homeless outreach and delays enforcement of the parking ban for up to 6 to 8 months.
