Series of 11 earthquakes rattles East Bay

A series of small earthquakes rattled the East Bay on Monday, with 11 quakes recorded in a single day, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

Bay Area Afghan community alarmed after reported ICE detentions

Members of the Bay Area’s Afghan community are voicing growing concern after more than a dozen Afghan immigrants were reportedly detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement this week in Northern California, according to the San Francisco chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations.

Golden Gate Fields to end racing at the end of the year

Animal activists are applauding the decision by the owners of Golden Gate Fields to close it's thoroughbred horse racing track in the East Bay at the end of the year. The track has been in operation since 1941. Eight race horses have died at Golden Gate Fields since January of 2023.

Slow down: Speed cameras coming to Oakland

Oakland is set to become the second city in California to roll out high-tech speed cameras designed to automatically ticket drivers traveling more than 11 mph over the speed limit.
