A Calistoga vintner has voluntarily handed CAL FIRE what may be a major clue to finding the true origin of the Pickett Fire. That fire started near Calistoga on August 21st and ultimately consumed 6,800 acres.

Dry fall weather and encroaching storms are bringing risky fire conditions to the North Bay.

Even though there's plenty of peak fire season left, towns that experienced wildfires this year, have to be thinking about what comes next. "Next" could very well be dirt and debris laden water and mud.

The latest Cal Fire report on the 4-day old Pickett Fire, shows it has burned 6,803 acres, but is still only 15% contained, making it a threat if winds pick up.  Though still dangerous, this fire is facing relentless assault from forces equal to the task.

Napa County officials in the span of two days have declared  local emergencies in response to the Pickett Fire, one of which frees up resources to help tackle the roaring blaze.

The Parks Fire started Friday afternoon around 3:23 p.m.

CAL FIRE LNU reported at 3:24 p.m. that a fire was burning near the 2300 block of Pickett Road and warned the public to use caution while traveling through the area.

The task force will examine oversight issues that may have contributed to the deadly July 1 fire and explosion at the facility in Esparto. Seven people were killed.

The small Marin town of Novato is creating a so-called Shaded Fuel Break to keep small gash and brush fires from climbing up into the top of trees, setting off major firestorms.       

Authorities have suspended the pyrotechnic licenses of two men following the devastating explosion and fire at a fireworks storage facility in Yolo County earlier this month, Cal Fire said Tuesday.  

CalFire Marshal Daniel Berlant said there are a "lot of red flags" with the deadly Yolo County fireworks explosion.

As we move into the peak of the fire season over the next three or four months, we wanted to see if looking back over the last few months can help us see what's coming. 

Firefighters with the San Jose Fire Department and Cal Fire got the upper hand in battling a nearly 100-acre vegetation fire that started late Tuesday afternoon. The fire was 75% contained and earlier evacutation orders had been lifted by late evening. 

The Dino Fire in Santa Clara County has grown to 266 acres and is 65% contained on Wednesday evening, Cal Fire officials say.
