Alameda County sheriff's deputies raided a rural Pleasanton property where they recovered hundreds of animals involved in a cockfighting ring. Officials said a tip led them to the location where a sheriff's spokesman described the activity as "coliseum style, gladiator fights."

A search is underway for the three suspects who broke into a Pleasanton home in the middle of the night while a woman was housing sitting.
Police said that at about 3:45 a.m. Sunday, two men smashed the glass of a rear sliding door and entered a house in the Kottinger Ranch neighborhood, on the city's south edge. The suspects confronted a woman resident there, brandishing a handgun, police said. The men demanded cash and then ransacked the house.
