While most businesses have made efforts to enforce mask mandates during the pandemic, a Northern California cafe has been taking a complete counter approach: charging customers a fee for wearing a mask.
"$5 FEE ADDED TO ORDERS PLACED WHILE WEARING A FACE MASK," a sign posted in the window of the café reads. In the fine print below the sign says that any customer "caught bragging" will also have to pay the penalty.
The restrictions announced Wednesday will likely remain in effect until winter rains restore water flows. People violating them could face daily fines of up to $1,000.

The Mendocino Sheriff has ordered residents to be ready to evacauate due to a new incident, the Burris Fire, which is burning in the area between Highway 20 and Highway 175, and between the Lake County line and the east side of the Russian River.
