In the run-up to July 4th, illegal firework shows are already popping up across the Bay Area, and that has firefighters and police worried about the potential for wildfires and injuries. Calfire and area fire departments have been nervously monitoring the region’s quickly drying fields of grass amid this week's high heat.

Fire crews are battling the quick moving Mountain Fire in Siskiyou County. According to Cal Fire, the blaze has burned 10,338 acres and is 10-percent contained. Hundreds of people have been forced to evacuate and hundreds of structures remain threatened.

Mill Fire now 40% contained, has killed 2 people, burned 100 homes

Two people have died in the Mill Fire according to Cal Fire. Officials say at least 100 homes were destroyed by the fire in Siskiyou County and hundreds more remain threatened. The fire started just before 1 p.m. Friday at a building next a lumber mill, so far it has burned six and a half acres and is 40-percent contained.
