Officials said the Crews Fire scorched more than 1,000 acres and destroyed two structures.
The public is being asked to avoid the area near Crews Road east of Gilroy, which has since spread eastward to the Canada Road area.
The Crews Fire has burned about 30 acres and is advancing at a moderate rate, according to Cal Fire, which said structures are threatened and additional air and ground equipment were being dispatched.
