The Presidio Slow Streets initiative is closing or limiting traffic on select streets from Monday through June 30 to allow for residents to walk, run, exercise and bike safely amid the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.

The car was spotted about 9 a.m. Saturday by a hiker near Bort Meadow Road, according to the California Highway Patrol. The hilly area is near Upper San Leandro Reservoir.

The highway will be reduced to one lane in both the northbound and southbound directions from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Friday, weather permitting.

(KTVU and wire report) -- All lanes of southbound Interstate Highway 880 in Oakland are back open, after a pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run, said CHP.

Three male passengers were pronounced dead at the scene, and a woman later died at the hospital.

Officers responded around 6 p.m. Sunday to a report of a solo-vehicle crash in the 4300 block of Grizzly Peak Boulevard, about a mile north of state Highway 24, according to Oakland police.

Authorities said the person was then struck by a vehicle and killed.

As part of Oakland's Slow Streets program supporting Alameda County's shelter-in-place order, several streets will be closed to vehicle through traffic beginning Friday.

The collision occurred on westbound Highway 580, just east of the Lakeshore Avenue exit, at about 11:30 a.m.

Authorities told KTVU that the man started a fire in a building he was living in, and the flames then quickly spread to a nearby field.

At least one person died and another was seriously injured, following a traffic collision on northbound Interstate Highway 880 in San Leandro early Wednesday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A person was stuck and killed by a Caltrain in Redwood City on Monday, officials said. 

The crash occurred about 11:20 p.m. Friday on Wikiup Drive just east of Carriage Lane in the unincorporated Larkfield-Wikiup area just north of Santa Rosa in Sonoma County, CHP Officer David DeRutte said.

The solo vehicle crash killed Floyd Merchant, 79, of Sacramento, and caused major injuries to William Jones Jr. 71, of Sacramento, and Jones-Merchant. The CHP said the three occupants of the vehicle are related.
