One dead following explosion at Pittsburg residence

Firefighters received a call from Pittsburg police around 9 a.m. of a possible explosion at a home on the 100 block of Linscheid Dr.

Police say the driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

A vegetation fire has been knocked down this evening in Pittsburg but not before it injured a firefighter and two others, fire officials with the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District said. The fire, apparently sparked by a candle from a homeless person's tent, prompted a health advisory to be issued.
