Judge says removal of Sheriff Corpus can proceed, sites violation of laws

An opinion by a retired Superior Court judge late Monday cleared the way for the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors to vote to remove, or not remove, Sheriff Christina Corpus from office. If the five-person panel casts a 4/5 vote in favor of removal, it would make a first in the history of California. Corpus' attorneys say the process was flawed from the start and are asking the state attorney general to intercede.

Judge finds cause for San Mateo County sheriff's removal

The San Mateo County Board of Supervisors received a 42-page written opinion on Monday from the judge who oversaw an administrative hearing to determine whether embattled Sheriff Christina Corpus could keep her job, and the judge found multiple grounds on which to remove her. 

31-year-old woman dies at Redwood City jail

Atherton HS violence threat thwarted by use of 'Sandy Hook' tipline

Atherton police and officials with the Sequoia Union High School Dist. said on Tuesday that a threat of violence aimed at Menlo-Atherton HS was thwarted because someone alerted authorities though an anonymous tipline that was born out of the tragic Sandy Hook mass shooting in 2012.
